Exercise Classes

All classes are included in our Members' Club package. The timetable offers a comprehensive mix of low and high impact classes, as well as the more relaxed pilates and yoga sessions.

The majority of classes are in our air-conditioned studio with a fully sprung floor to ensure optimum conditions whilst exercising.

This class is divided into three sections, each lasting 20 minutes. Each section will range from Keiser cycling to Fit-Ball, or from core work to circuit training. Variety is key when working out, so come along and be surprised!

Active Life
Activity sessions for the over 50s. Active Life sessions include badminton, swimming, aqua aerobics, table tennis, use of the sauna and use of the gym (upon completion of an induction). Not all listed activities are available at every session. Free for Members, £5.75 for non-members. Please click here for more information.

Active Movers
For those who are young at heart, come along and improve your strength, endurance, mobility, flexibility, and balance in an easy-to-follow, low impact workout that meets the needs of virtually anyone.

AeroBlitz is a form of exercise that combines, rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines.  Our experienced instructors ensure you get a whole body workout focusing on legs, bums and tums. 

Aqua Aerobics
Aqua Aerobics is an excellent method of exercise which improves the fitness of your heart and lungs, and helps you tone up. Many people prefer to exercise in water as it keeps you cool, is kinder to joints and the water supports some body weight. The shallow water enables non-swimmers to exercise too.

Aqua Aerobics (Deep Water)
This will take your regular Aqua class to the next level. The class is shorter but more intense! Enjoy well planned routines that have you working hard with floats in the deep-end.

Ballet Basics (Course)
This class is designed for anyone wanting to try out some ballet moves for the first time or for those who learnt as a child. A comprehensive workout for posture, balance, strength, flexibility, coordination and enjoyment as you dance gracefully to varied music. Course dates and price available at Reception.  Age 14+

Ballet Improvers (Course)
Ballet is a great way to improve balance, flexibility, coordination, strength and stamina as well as musicality and poise. So if you enjoy setting quality of movement to the mood of the music, and trying to make something hard look easy, this could be for you. As this is an established class, it is for improvers rather than complete beginners. We practise a complete barre, port de bras, adage and allegro, but no pointe work! Course dates and price available at Reception.  Age 14+

Body Balance
Ideal for anyone and everyone, Body Balance is the yoga-based class that will improve your mind, your body and your life. During Body Balance an inspiring soundtrack plays as you bend and stretch through a series of simple Yoga moves and embrace elements of Tai Chi and Pilates. You'll strengthen your entire body and leave the class feeling calm and centred.

Body Sculpt
This class blends high-intensity cardio intervals with functional strength and conditioning exercises. Improve your cardiovascular fitness, burn calories and develop lean muscle mass to help you look better, move more smoothly and feel great!

One of the most effective forms of cross-training available. Box yourself fit with a variety of techniques from pad-work to skipping. This class guarantees fun as well as fitness, with the added benefit of being one of the best stress busters around!

Casual Climbing
A supervised session on the climbing wall for competent climbers who have completed the Recre8 four-week beginner’s course. All equipment is provided and an instructor will be present at all times. Mondays 7 - 8:30pm. £7 per session.  Age 11+

Circuit training combines both cardiovascular and resistance exercises to improve conditioning, tone and increase fat loss. The variety of different exercise stations is great for overall fitness.

Core Classics
In this non-aerobic conditioning class, focus is placed primarily on the abdominals, lower back, shoulder and hip girdle.  Enhance abdominal definition, core strength, core stability and flexibility.

Dance Fit
This class will give you a full aerobic workout in a relaxed environment where you can let your inhibitions go. Increase your fitness, transform your body, boost your confidence and help ease stress. The class uses different tracks to provide peaks and troughs of intensity meaning you’ll get the results you want faster by keeping your body challenged and always guessing!

Fitness Yoga                                                                                                                

This form of Yoga is more dynamic and incorporates stretch, strength and yoga postures. Come along and eliminate stress whilst recharging yourself with positive energy!

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, 100% effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time.

HIIT Cycle 
A 45-minute high-intensity workout, using an indoor bike and bodyweight exercise to achieve fast results. It’s a short, intense style of training where the thrill and motivation comes from pushing your physical and mental limits. You combine bursts of intensity, where you work as hard as possible, with periods of rest that prepare you for the next effort.

Keiser Circuits
A combination of two of our most popular classes Keiser Cycle and Circuits. This class is evenly split in two, to provide a great mix of cardio and strength.

Keiser Cycle
An aerobic exercise, that takes place on a specifically designed, stationary bike.  As you pedal, motivating music plays and the instructor takes you on your journey. During the class you can vary your pace – sometimes pedalling as fast as you can, other times cranking up the tension. This is great calorie burner and a great way to improve your fitness.

Keiser Cycle (Beginners)                                                                                        
This class focuses on technique and will provide a base level of fitness for those looking to progress gently into our Keiser Cycle sessions.

Keiser Cycle (Family)
Bring your children along for a fun and energetic Keiser Cycle Class designed for the whole family.  All members are welcome to these classes not just those with children.  Get ready for hill climbs, jumps and sprints, all designed to get you and the family fit.  Minimum inside leg length of 27 inches. All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

This is the ultimate combination or cardio and resistance, designed to burn fat, tone muscles and take your fitness to a whole new level. Use our Kettlebells to swing, clean, press and snatch your way to a whole new physique!

Kick Boxing
Punch and kick your way to fitness with our kick boxing class designed for all abilities.

Kick Start Fitness (11 – 13 year olds)                                                              
Kick Start your fitness with allocated gym sessions for 11-13 year olds. All sessions are supervised by a qualified instructor, who is at hand to offer guidance and individual programmes. Free for Members, £4 for non-members.


Salsa, Merengue and Reggaeton... dance gets you fit!. Latino is a unique and energetic workout that will get your heart pumping and your body moving!

Outdoor Fitness
Tough, fun, challenging and exciting class that effectively works every muscle in the body, to make you feel amazing both physically and mentally. Executed in the beautiful setting of Tonbridge School grounds. No screaming, shouting or military style training drills, just a highly experienced trainer to effectively challenge, motivate and support you towards your own personal level to achieve things you may not have believed you were capable of before.

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Pilates emphasises correct postural alignment, core strength and muscle balance.

Pilates (Fitness)
Fitness Pilates uses the principals of traditional Pilates and similar mat work exercises, but with modifications, diversifications and updated exercise prescription to provide a controlled body-conditioning programme appropriate for everyone.

Pure Strength
Build strength, not bulk in a group training session that brings more weight into TSC fitness studio than ever before, working  your muscles in every way possible to add definition, increase bone density and decrease body fat.  No muscle gets neglected in this class, keeping you constantly challenged.

Pure Stretch
Pure Stretch classes involve stretch routines, core strengthening and relaxation techniques, incorporating aspects of Yoga and Pilates. Pure Stretch is designed to lengthen and strengthen the entire body.

Running Club
A great opportunity to improve your running ability, increase fat loss and meet people with similar interests. Routes are kept simple but runners have the chance to push themselves and progress in a relaxed and non-competitive manner. Open to those who can already comfortably run 5k. Sessions are run by Teresa, a keen runner who is happy to share her knowledge and experience.

Step 'n' Sculpt
Simple, heart-pumping step aerobics routines combine with strength training intervals to give you a complete cardio and weights workout. This is an excellent cross-training class for all skill and fitness levels. You may be surprised to find yourself enjoying sculpting your body and following step combinations.

Supple Strength
Blending elements of yoga, Pilates and body conditioning, we will give you the tools to build a challenging holistic workout. You will explore exercises geared towards building strength and flexibility through a focus on posture, core stability and body alignment.

A form of high intensity interval training designed increase your heart rate for short periods of time. By doing this, you train all of your energy systems which is something that regular cardio workouts won’t always do. Not only will Tabata increase your fitness, it will help you burn more calories both during and after the workout. 

Tai Chi

Tai Chi involves a series of flowing standing exercises with a small section on meditation to relax the body and mind. It works to balance the body internally and externally to resolve many common issues.

Focused balancing exercises, breathing and relaxation techniques to stimulate the body and mind.

Dancers & non-dancers alike can come along to this party-like atmosphere. Before you know it you will be dancing away and burning calories. This easy to follow cardio-based dance workout will help sculpt and tone your entire body.
